Wait, what’s there to learn about coffee?

The vast majority of the world consumes coffee on a daily basis. Regrettably, a lot of those people aren’t drinking good coffee. This isn’t exactly their fault, though. No one teaches you how to make coffee properly in school and most people learn how to brew coffee from friends and family. This results in a lot of bad coffee being consumed. We’re on a mission to change that. Our goal is to make learning proper coffee brewing is easy, understandable, and fun.

Roasting Guides

While our focus is on helping people learn how to brew coffee, there is a group of coffee enthusiasts who have taken up roasting coffee at home. This process is known as home coffee roasting. Unfortunately, people treat roasting as more of an art than a science. For those who are interested in learning how to roast coffee at home, we will be continually expanding our coffee roasting guides to provide you with the best, most scientific approaches to coffee roasting.

Grinding Guides

Coffee grinders make grinding coffee pretty simple. They’re like a computer; they do what they’re told and execute the instructions at a high level. Unfortunately, we often tell them the wrong thing to do! The coarseness of your grind can have a huge impact on the final cup of coffee. We’re setting out to educate you on the proper ways to grind coffee, so that you can get more deliciousness in every cup.

Brewing Guides

Brewing is one of the more complex parts of making coffee. Although it seems simple, a ton of different factors go into coffee brewing. Water temperature, water quality, water mineral content, grind coarseness, grind consistency, roast level, bean moisture content…just to name a few. Brewing coffee relies on proper roasting and grinding, so be sure to check out those guides as well.

Glossary

We know how difficult it is to keep terms and definitions straight. It wasn’t easy in chemistry class, and it hasn’t gotten easier as we’ve gotten older. Learning coffee is no different from learning chemistry. There are tons of different terms, processes, and approaches to remember. We’ve compiled a list below of terms we encounter on our journey to master coffee preparation. We’ll be adding to it regularly and linking to each of the terms in our blog posts.
